We use the phrase "think outside of the jar" rather than "think outside the box."  What does this phrase mean to you?
Being in the beauty industry, the first thing that comes to mind is packaging and how to continually design creative ways to help continue our quest for sustainability while protecting both the efficacy of the product and the environment.

What is your most marked characteristic?
I cannot tell a lie!

I’ve always wanted to
Cook an amazing meal with friends and family at a villa in Tuscany.

What is your greatest extravagance?
Flower arranging relaxes me, and I always have fresh flowers in my bedroom…they make me so darn happy.

What is it that you most dislike?
Dishonesty.

What song would you want played as you enter every room for the rest of your life?
“3 Little Birds” by Bob Marley.

Thriller or comedy?
Comedy.

Describe your medicine cabinet (a verbal shelfie)
Oil cleanser, foaming cleanser, toner, Vitamin C, Retinol, moisturizer, eye cream, lip balm…it’s pretty packed!

What inspired you to become an esthetician? What’s been most surprising or challenging on your journey?

I had wonderful skin until my mid-20’s, and then it went nuts! My passion for fixing my own skin took me on my skincare journey.

What are the skin concerns you hear about most from your clients?

Most concerns center around acne, pigmentation, and overall anti-aging.

What’s the most frequent skincare product-related misunderstanding you see amongst your clients?

More is not more…follow the instructions!

If you could only use one active skincare ingredient for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Vitamin C is such a powerful ingredient. It stimulates cellular activity, brightens the skin, and improves overall tone and texture. Vitamin C would definitely be my top pick.

What’s your perspective on the “clean” beauty movement?

The movement toward clean beauty and the growing public awareness of what ingredients they’re putting on their skin is very important to me—with education being key.

What does “clinical skincare” mean to you?

Active ingredients are so important and most clinical skincare brands publish research results, which really appeals to me.

What treatments would you recommend for someone new to skincare?

This is what I always recommend to new clients: “Dip your toe in the pool first.” Skincare treatments can be overwhelming, and there is a lot of over-selling out there. Slow and steady is my motto.

Who is your ideal client and why?

Anyone who’s interested in learning about their skin and forming a relationship of trust with me.

How do you feel about how our society depicts aging in beauty?

I’m encouraged to see women like Isabella Rosselini and Helen Mirren age so beautifully and so publicly, and I love seeing that reflected in the media.

What keeps you motivated and inspired after achieving so much success in your industry?

People. My clients' trust and partnership, in both their life and skincare journeys, brings me so much joy.

What’s your favorite self-care product?

I love to mask. Whether it’s to treat a breakout or to hydrate, I keep several masks on-hand for whatever my skin needs.

What is an important ritual in your daily life that helps keep you grounded?

I’ve been reading a day-by-day chronological bible, and I’m always more grounded when I start my day with scripture.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

I have a black belt!
