What's interesting is that many of the early studies on such ingredients were typically performed on “fresh” samples often made for academic research, not products that have been made to maximize shelf life. Each formula focuses on meaningful concentrations of each active to focus on 5 main skin concerns/benefits associated with each, including pure Vitamin C (L ascorbic acid) for brightening discoloration and sun damage; Retinol for targeting lines and wrinkles; CoQ10 for firming and repair; Botanical Green Tea and Resveratrol for strengthening aging, sensitive skin; and Probiotics and Enzymes for refining pores and clearing blemishes.
We avoided ingredients such as parabens, phthalates, sulfates, talc, formaldehyde releasers and others that have questionable safety issues.

PEGs get a bad reputation in ‘clean’ beauty not because of the underlying ingredient itself but because ethoxylated ingredients are often used to create them during the manufacturing process. Rest assured, we sourced our raw materials from a supplier who guarantees that their ingredient does not contain any harmful levels of ethoxylated materials with Ethylene Oxide <10ppm and 1,4-dioxane <10ppm. We use a PEG-8 in our formula because due to the unique nature of our form factor where Active Powders are combined with a Hyaluronic Hydrator in the moment before use, we needed to ensure the resulting formulation was fully dissolved and with a pleasant texture and we decided that the best emollient and skin conditioning agent to provide smoothness, slip and moisture with a powder was a PEG-8.
No, we do not use any palm oil or its derivatives in our products.

All formulas except the Enzyme/Probiotic Powder contain ingredients that are considered safe to use while pregnant or breastfeeding. However, as with any skincare product, we advise those who are pregnant or lactating to consult their physician prior to use-- Enzyme/Probiotic Powder as it has willow bark that is standardized for salicylic acid.
All Exponent products are allergy tested for safety. However, alway patch test prior to use to make sure your skin tolerates any new topical skincare product.
The Active Powders each come with 45 doses, and the Quadruple Hyaluronic Acid Hydrator comes with 90 doses.
The shelf life or full expiration date is currently tested at 2 years. But our formulas from a ‘best if used by date’ never go bad– as in, they deliver the same potency every single dose.

No, we offer a new, complimentary Globe + Dispenser for each Active Powder so there is no cross contamination in the dispenser.
Yes, you can use different Active Powders (in their Activator Globes + Dispensers) with the same Base.
- The Base and Bowl can be wiped or rinsed after each use. We suggest that you rinse the bowl under the faucet at least every 90 doses when you refill your Hydrator. - The translucent Globe top can be rinsed and dried but the Dispenser (where the real dosing magic happens) should be kept dry and cleaned with a Q-Tip every 45 days when you refill your Active Powder.
- Avoid exposing the Active Powders to water. The powder may not dispense properly, and may degrade more rapidly if exposed to water. - Let your dispenser dry out for a few days before inserting a new powder jar. If the dispenser has been clogged permanently, you will need a replacement.
Active Powders are sensitive to water and should be stored with the Rubber Cap for extra protection from humidity. The Self-Activator can be stored anywhere that is dry.
Yes, you can travel with the Self-Activator if you Lock your Base. Stay tuned as we are going to be releasing a travel size soon.
Your Base can be locked easily for travel. Using the assembled Globe + Dispenser, without pushing down, gently twist the Bowl counterclockwise to the ‘locked’ position. Look for the indicator line on the edge of the bowl.
The brown color is an indication that the actives have degraded or oxidized over time. As all the Active Powders contain potent actives in stable form, they are best used immediately upon mixing for maximum benefit. This shows how actives in other pre-mixed skincare serums and cream that appear brownish or discolored are likely to have already degraded and oxidized before use (or if the premixed-skincare appears pale or white, certain actives may not present in a high concentration in the first place).

Yes, our empties are recyclable! Our Pure Active Powders and Quadruple Hyaluronic Acid Hydrator are packaged in glass jars with aluminum caps. Glass and aluminum are both infinitely recyclable materials and can be put directly into your recycling bin. Once you are in the Exponent Subscription Portal, click on the Upcoming Order you would like to change. You can either change the date of your delivery by clicking “Delivery Date” or you can skip entirely by clicking “Skip this order” at the bottom of the page.
Once you are in the Exponent Subscription Portal, click on “Subscriptions” and choose the subscription you would like to change. Click the box labeled “Quantity” and you can change the # you would like. This will change every subscription going forward, but you are able to change the quantity back after your next order.
